About The Position

York Container is an industry leader in the manufacture of performance-based brown box, multi-color display-ready and e-commerce corrugated packaging to some of the most well-known names in the consumer products in the world. We are in search of a highly-motivated, self-driven CORRUGATOR OPERATOR WEEKEND MAINTAINER to join our successful teams!

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • up to two (2) years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Good interpersonal & communication skills
  • Highly organized, detail orientated and self-motivated individual (proactive attitude)
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment, learn quickly and follow established processes
  • Good mathematical skills - understand basic algebra, able to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, volume etc. (add and subtract numbers, multiply and divide by 10’s and 100’s …)
  • Employees are expected to follow all facility safety guidelines that include adhering to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and Food Safety as outlined during their training.

Responsibilities

  • Manage completion of all preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance tasks assigned while working alongside the Weekend Maintenance crew.
  • Complete all housekeeping and end-of-week clean-up tasks as assigned.
  • Operate wet or dry end of corrugator during regular shift as directed
  • Assist weekend maintenance crew in preventive maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Manage machine start including starch prep and paper web string-up for corrugator weekly on Sundays for production start-up Sunday night.
  • Check basis weight and width of roll stock before placing it on roll stands
  • Become qualified to operate wet end and dry end of corrugator as well as clamp truck.
  • Continually monitors quality of check board coming from single facer and double backer.
  • Check all machinery for mechanical soundness and make sure all safety features are in good working condition and report all unsafe conditions to supervisor
  • Assist in monitoring all waste categories
  • Responsible for reporting temperature and viscosity of starch
  • Maintain machines at all times to the expected housekeeping standards
  • Follow all safety rules and procedures
  • Assists other departments and/or areas when requested by management/supervisor
  • Troubleshoot when operating issues arise
  • Train other team members to pass on knowledge & expertise
  • Ability to define problems, collect data/facts (observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources) to draw reasonable conclusions
  • Ability to deal with various and changing priorities
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
