About The Position

Constellation is seeking a highly motivated Corrosion & Process Engineering student for a paid internship at the Geysers power plant in Middletown, California. The approximately 10-week internship runs from June 7, 2027, through August 13, 2027. Interns gain hands-on, real-world engineering project experience while working independently under an assigned supervisor and technical mentor.

The intern will assist the Geysers Steamfield Optimization team with monitoring, evaluating, and optimizing corrosion mitigation and steam scrubbing systems to achieve required steam purity. Work includes engineering analysis and field experience in an office and industrial/power plant environment. The schedule is four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday.

Requirements

• Completed junior-year coursework in Engineering Science at an accredited college or university, including Chemical or Mechanical Engineering coursework in Fluid Flow and Thermodynamics.
• Hold a valid driver’s license and be able to drive on mountainous, winding, narrow roads.
• Be legally eligible to work in the U.S. now and in the future for any company.
• Be in good academic standing.
• Demonstrate a strong work ethic and initiative.
• Work effectively and harmoniously with others in a team environment.
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Familiarity with programming VBA in Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Geysers Steamfield Optimization team with monitoring, evaluating, and optimizing corrosion mitigation and steam scrubbing systems to achieve required steam purity.
• Evaluate the performance of existing scrubbing equipment and identify best practices.
• Review corrosion effects in the field and identify causes of corrosion.
• Review pipe-thickness data and evaluate repair-prioritization schedules.
• Assist the corrosion engineer in evaluating test data and proposing alternative testing solutions.
• Model expected scrubbing performance for modified steam-scrubbing designs.
