About The Position

We are seeking driven, thoughtful candidates with experience in communications, policy, and publications to support impactful initiatives for our Federal clients at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As a Communications Specialist with Censeo, you will support communications and correspondence writing and outreach for the DHS procurement office.

Requirements

  • BA/BS required in Communications, English, Political Science, Economics, Public Policy, or a closely related field.
  • 3+ years of experience with strategic communications, performance reporting, policy communications, or federal program support.
  • Experience preparing executive-level correspondence in a federal agency, congressional affairs, or executive support environment.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information from multiple sources into concise and actionable communications.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or working with Federal agencies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to synthesize complex information.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, edit, and coordinate executive correspondence including letters, memoranda, emails, congressional responses, briefing materials, and stakeholder communications.
  • Prepare sensitive and high-visibility correspondence for DHS senior leadership.
  • Review incoming requests, research background information, and develop accurate and timely responses.
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts and program stakeholders to gather information and ensure message consistency.
  • Track correspondence workflows and support quality control processes to ensure deadlines and response requirements are met.
  • Maintain correspondence templates, standard operating procedures, and document management practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop realistic, innovative solutions to complex challenges
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, proactively identifying and mitigating delivery risks
