Corrections Utility Plant Operator - SCI Camp Hill
About The Position
This role focuses on operating, maintaining, and repairing boiler plant systems while overseeing inmate workers. Primary responsibilities will involve monitoring equipment, keeping accurate logs, performing testing, and ensuring safe and secure operations. As a Corrections Utility Plant Operator, you will perform the following duties: Boiler Operation: Operate and maintain three natural gas and oil fired boilers under normal and emergency conditions. Equipment Maintenance: Maintain pumps, fans, chemical feed systems, and other auxiliary plant equipment. Water Testing: Test boiler water chemistry and maintain accurate logs of chemical levels and supplies. Housekeeping Duties: Perform cleaning tasks and maintain daily inventories in assigned areas. Inmate Supervision: Oversee inmate workers, monitor movement, conduct searches, and maintain safety and security. Daily Communication: Complete paperwork, address concerns, and communicate plant needs with the supervisor.
Requirements
- Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant
- An equivalent combination of experience and training
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA
- Ability to perform essential job functions
- Pass a background investigation
- Meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements
