About The Position

The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the role of Corrections Specialist 2 in Resolutions for the Coyote Ridge Corrections Center (CRCC), located outside the Tri-Cities in Connell WA. The Health Service Resolution position acts as the health services administrative arm in addressing complaints filed by the patients; therefore, this position must work directly with patients, facility staff, clinical staff, supervisors, managers and local administrative staff in the resolution of these complaints at the lowest level possible. It is the position’s responsibility to research policy, operational memorandums and facility practices and to render researchable information, data, and analysis, which addresses a wide range of administrative actions that correct and address complaints relating to the grievance program. This requires at times, the correction of not only the work of others, but also correction of facility operations and practices when necessary. Coyote Ridge Corrections Center has a diverse population seeing different chronic diseases and taking care of those that need long term and palliative care. Extended Observations unit up to 96 hr. stay (4 beds) Long term palliative care unit See up to 2500 patients with different chronic disease (diabetes, hypertension, cancer, autoimmune disorders and much more). Health Services is responsible for basic primary care for incarcerated individuals. All disciplines within all of the 12 correctional facilities work closely together to reach a common goal, providing the best, most efficient, and cost-effective health care possible. Emphasis is placed on early identification of health concerns, care for acute and chronic health problems, and preventive care.

Requirements

  • Six (6) years of professional experience providing healthcare case management services in adult or juvenile corrections, social services, or closely related field.
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic medical concepts, patient assessment and care planning, medical record management.
  • Knowledge and understanding of resolution, tort, or other investigative processes.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, document resolutions, and manage cases efficiently and effectively is essential for ensuring compliance and accountability.?
  • Must be able to work in spaces, climb stairs, walk long distances, and frequently lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Under rare circumstances this position may be required to lift or carry up to 50 pounds and push up to 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate, Direct and implement all aspects of the facility’s Resolutions Program.
  • Implement The program in accordance with DOC’S OGP Manual, and Policy 550.100 as it relates to health Services.
  • Responsible for providing the population with relevant documentation, information, and access to resolution program as it relates to health services.
  • Gather all complaints in accordance with policy from the facility resolution coordinator, review each resolution to triage any urgent resolutions for immediate attention.
  • Confirm all resolution documentation submitted is accurate and filed for appropriate processing.
  • Administer appropriate health services resolution determinations and manage timelines at each level of review
  • Coordinate requests to the facility resolutions coordinator for notification of time extensions.
  • Responsible for ensuring that appropriate health services responses are provided at level 0, 1, AND II.
  • Coordinate the processing of health services incarcerated individual resolutions at all levels including emergency and PREA complaints to ensure time requirements are met and work directly with the facility resolution coordinator.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the program.
  • Coordinate duties with the facility’s resolution program
  • Assign Health Services investigations to appropriate staff.
  • Review documents for compliance.
  • Ensure timely interviews are conducted.
  • Ensure that incarcerated individuals are interviewed at least once before a health services resolution is submitted and level III.
  • Correct Health Services administrative suggested responses.
  • Confirm research, and fact findings are accomplished.
  • Coordinate as necessary between staff, incarcerated individuals, and/or operational issues.
  • Conduct research, training and analysis
  • Analyze resolution data reviewing trends within the facility in a timely manner
  • Provide appropriate data analysis and trends reporting to health services management on a regular basis including emergent issues as appropriate
  • Ensure health services staff and incarcerated individuals are knowledgeable in the resolution program by providing orientation/training
  • Assist with training of health services investitive staff as needed
  • Work with facility resolution coordinator on issues specific to Health Services
  • Other duties as assigned
