Requirements

High School Diploma or its equivalent
Three years of experience as a Team Leader (Sergeant) in a custody setting
Completed and passed the Jail Academy Exam
Passed and maintained firearms qualification
Must be at least 20 years old
Certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED
Must possess/maintain valid Missouri or Kansas Driver's License
Must possess/maintain an active telephone and be available to work weekends and evenings
Must submit to and pass a police background check, drug screen and motor vehicle record check

Nice To Haves

Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred

Responsibilities

Supervision of staff, operations, and inmate security for up to five detention floors
Implementation of department policy and procedures
Noting staff performance and recommending or applying progressive discipline
Remaining alert to inmate and staff problems and resolving or facilitating their resolution
Reviewing or completing all documentation and reporting involving employees in an assigned area
Training new Team Leaders (Sergeant) and developing the skills of established staff
Acting as Captain when required
