About The Position

The mission of Eastern Louisiana Mental Health Systems (ELMHS) is to provide mental health evaluation, treatment, habilitation, and consultation for adults. Programs provided include inpatient interventions, jail-based evaluations, supervised group home and residential programs, forensic evaluation, care, custody, and aftercare; intermediate and long-term psychiatric services are coordinated with the total system of care in Louisiana. ELMHS is looking for Correctional Lieutenant Therapeutics who are passionate about supporting patient care while ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. In this unique role as a CLT, you will combine learned skills to help manage clients, de-escalate challenging situations, and promote safety and healing in a clinical setting.

Requirements

Two years of experience in a forensic, behavioral, correctional, or penal institution with responsibility for the security, custody, clinical care or rehabilitation of offenders.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

Responsibilities

Serve as the on-job training instructor to Corrections Guard-Therapeutic (CGT) and Corrections Guard-Therapeutic Trainee (CGTT) staff during the probationary period.
Supervise three (3) elite CGTs serving as assistants in the training process.
Respond to orders to report for duty during escapes or unusual occurrences.
Provide performance planning and evaluation of probationary/permanent employees according to service rules and regulations.
Participate in educational trainings that are mandatory for accreditation and licensure of the facility.
