About The Position

This position contributes to the public safety mission by managing the daily activities of Security Supervisors, Corrections Officers, and Inmates in an institutional setting. The Corrections Lieutenant supervises and monitors staff on an assigned shift to ensure a safe, secure, and productive environment. This role involves leading and counseling staff, coordinating work schedules, and assigning duty rosters for the assigned shift. The position also contributes to the administration of the performance management system for staff. The Corrections Lieutenant conducts ongoing inspections to maintain the security, sanitation, and good order of the institution. This role requires interaction with management, staff, visitors, inmates, and the public to maintain orderly and secure operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • DCJS Certification.
  • Considerable experience in corrections or law enforcement.
  • Experience supervising corrections staff.
  • Working experience planning, scheduling, and/or organizing work to include timekeeping and duty roster management.
  • Experience in reviewing and evaluating records and reports and applying post orders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of practices and procedures governing security and/or administration.
  • Ability to receive, understand, follow, and give oral and written instructions.
  • Working knowledge in the use of firearms, radio equipment, physical control devices, electric and electronic controls.

Nice To Haves

  • LEAD Graduate or equivalent applicable experience and/or training.
  • Working experience with evidence-based practices.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs to include outlook.
