About The Position

This position is responsible for assessing, developing, delivering, evaluating training, recording, and tracking all mandated, elective, and specialty training of all staff for the facility. The role includes supervision of assigned training staff and contributes to the administration of the performance management system for staff. The Corrections Lieutenant conducts ongoing inspections to maintain the security, sanitation, and good order of the institution. They interact with management, staff, visitors, inmates, and the public to maintain orderly and secure operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Current Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) Certification.
  • Considerable experience in corrections or law enforcement.
  • Experience supervising corrections staff.
  • Working experience planning, scheduling, and/or organizing work to include timekeeping and duty roster management.
  • Experience in reviewing and evaluating records and reports and applying post orders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of practices and procedures governing security and/or administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to receive, understand, follow, and give oral and written instructions.
  • Working knowledge in the use of firearms, radio equipment, physical control devices, electric and electronic controls.

  • LEAD Graduate or equivalent applicable experience and/or training.
  • Working experience with evidence-based practices.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs to include Outlook.
