About The Position

The Office of Juvenile Justice is seeking a confident, highly skilled Corrections Lieutenant Colonel – Tactical Response to lead tactical operations across two secure-care locations in North Louisiana. This is an exciting, high-impact leadership role for someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, stays calm under pressure, and is driven to maintain safety and order at the highest level. As the Tactical Response Lieutenant Colonel, you will command tactical units at both sites, working closely with the State Tactical Commander to ensure readiness, coordination, and rapid response. You’ll guide tactical officers, oversee training and equipment, respond to critical incidents, and provide on-site support during emergencies, disturbances, and major youth movements. Requirements

• Four years of experience in a correctional, behavioral, or penal institution with responsibility for the security, custody, rehabilitation, or classification of offenders, or in law enforcement or security plus one of the following: 1. Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR 2. One year of experience in any field; OR 3. Six months of law enforcement experience as a POST certified peace officer.
• One year of this experience must have been in a position equivalent in scope of responsibility or complexity of work performed to a Corrections Captain in State service.
• An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
• Possession of a current driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Leads two tactical response units — Commands tactical teams across two secure-care locations in the northern region.
• Supervises and equips officers — Ensures staff readiness, proper equipment, and current training certifications.
• Coordinates statewide tactical operations — Works directly with the State Tactical Commander on planning, training, and response strategy.
• Responds to incidents and emergencies — Handles tactical calls, disturbances, and high-risk situations requiring immediate action.
• Provides on-site support — Conducts regular visits and assists with special events, mass movement, and security needs.
• Maintains critical documentation — Reviews logbooks, tracks use-of-force reports, and ensures accurate tactical records.
• Serves on 24-hour call — Ready to respond to agency needs and perform additional duties as assigned.
