About The Position
The Corrections Food Service Instructor with the Department of Corrections offers the chance to lead food preparation activities that keep the facility running smoothly. This role lets you train inmates in cooking, sanitation, and proper use of kitchen equipment. You will help create a safe and organized work setting for meal production. It is an excellent fit for someone who enjoys teaching and teamwork.
Requirements
- Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Teach inmates how to prepare, cook, bake, and serve meals according to recipes
- Ensure safe and sanitary operation of tools, equipment, cleaning methods, and storage procedures
- Check food service areas, supplies, and equipment for compliance with sanitation standards
- Receive, store, and track food items while following proper inventory rotation
- Assign inmate duties, review performance, and maintain worker records
- Maintain care and supervision of inmates during food service activities
