About The Position
This role gives you the chance to help inmates build confidence and practical skills that will support their future at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Coal Township. This role focuses on teaching barbering skills and overseeing inmate learning within a structured vocational program.
Requirements
- Must be in possession of an active Barber Teacher License issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Barber Examiners.
- Must meet the PA residency requirement.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide classroom and hands-on instruction in standard barbering practices
- Develop and manage the barbering curriculum in line with state guidelines
- Determine needed supplies and submit purchase requests for tools
- Issue, track, and account for all tools and materials used in training
- Maintain discipline and monitor inmate progress and participation
