About The Position
Become a Corrections Food Service Instructor with the Department of Corrections (DOC) at State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Dallas and make a difference through hands-on training. This job gives you the chance to teach important food service techniques while supporting safe and efficient kitchen work. Requirements
- Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Teach inmates food preparation, baking, cooking, and service methods
- Ensure tools, equipment, and work areas meet safety and sanitation standards
- Receive, store, and organize food and supplies using first-in, first-out procedures
- Review inmate assignments, evaluate performance, and maintain worker records
- Inspect food service areas and adjust recipes based on census and menu data
