The Corrections Food Service Instructor for the Department of Corrections is a role where you guide inmate workers in preparing meals that support daily facility operations. Requirements
- Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA
- Ability to perform essential job functions
- Pass a background investigation
- Meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements
Responsibilities
- Teach inmates how to prepare, cook, and bake meals according to established recipes
- Guide inmates in the safe and sanitary use, cleaning, and storage of kitchen tools and equipment
- Inspect food service areas, supplies, and equipment to ensure compliance with sanitation standards
- Receive, store, and rotate food items while following first-in, first-out procedures
- Plan work assignments, review inmate performance, and maintain required records
- Maintain care, custody, and control of inmates during all work activities
