About The Position

The Corrections Facility Maintenance Manager 1 position with the Bureau of Operations offers an opportunity to play a key role in keeping critical infrastructure strong and dependable. This position allows you to assist with construction oversight, advise maintenance staff, and apply technical knowledge to complex facility needs. You will support safe operations by reviewing work, coordinating resources, and helping develop future improvements. This position supports the Bureau of Operations by assisting with facility construction, maintenance planning, and technical guidance for institutions statewide. The role focuses on reviewing work, coordinating activities, and helping ensure facilities remain safe, functional, and compliant.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a Building Maintenance Foreman, Utility Plant Supervisor, or Corrections Tradesman Instructor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) with a specialty in one of the trades of Carpentry, Electrical, Refrigeration, Plumbing, Sheet Metal, Machinist, Welding, Painting, Automotive, Electronics, or Masonry; or Six years of experience in the construction, maintenance or repair of buildings; or the operation, maintenance and repair of utility services equipment, including two years in a managerial or supervisory capacity; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • Must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Advise staff on electrical and electronic repair work and review tasks for accuracy and compliance
  • Coordinate construction planning, attend project meetings, and monitor contractor activities
  • Visit institutions to check project progress and verify conformance with standards and requirements
  • Provide knowledge in security electronics, electrical systems, networking, and other critical facility systems
  • Help develop technical training programs for facility maintenance managers
  • Prepare advisory reports, review project diagrams, and maintain updated records for future use
