About The Position
The Corrections Employment and Vocational Assistant with the Department of Corrections provides an opportunity to guide individuals as they build skills for their future. In this role, you help keep important systems running smoothly at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Houtzdale. Your work supports fairness, order, and strong reentry outcomes. Requirements
- Three years of clerical experience; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- Must meet the PA residency requirement.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and update information on inmate receptions, bed assignments, job placements, and related data.
- Process monthly inmate payroll and verify accuracy of reported work hours and pay rates.
- Help update and track inmate job assignments, evaluate work progress, and support decisions on appropriate placements.
- Collect and maintain required documents for reentry, coordinate support programs, and assist with resource availability.
- Meet with inmates to address work concerns and resolve payroll issues.
- Assist with scheduling community work programs and proctor inmates during Pell Grant classes.
