About The Position

Iron County is accepting applications to create a hiring roster for future Corrections Deputy openings at the Iron County Jail. This posting is not for an immediate position; the roster may be used for 12 months to fill openings as they become available. Applicants interested in a career in corrections may apply to be considered for future openings. The entry-level minimum starting wage is $26.79 per hour. For applicants with P.O.S.T. certification, salary is based on experience and qualifications/certifications. Under current policy, up to 10 years of verifiable corrections experience may receive year-for-year credit within the established pay range. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available to applicants who already hold the required Utah certifications, subject to a two-year employment commitment. Applicants who are not certified and are hired must complete a 10-week P.O.S.T. Corrections Officer Training Program. Iron County requires a two-year employment commitment beginning after certification is completed. A prorated portion of training costs may be repayable for the uncompleted months of that commitment. Applicants must submit a completed application and required documentation by 5:00 p.m. MST on or before November 16, 2026. Qualified applicants who submit the required information by the deadline will be notified of the physical agility testing date and should plan to attend.
