•$53,019 - $72,134•Onsite

About The Position

The Corrections Officer with the Renville County Sheriff’s Office interacts with and manages inmates, maintains an orderly and secure jail, and ensures inmates comply with established rules and regulations. The officer uses independent judgment, training, and policy and procedure to carry out daily duties and respond to emergencies. The position carries a risk of injury, including death; potentially violent physical interactions with inmates, combative or abusive behavior, unsanitary conditions, and exposure to infectious diseases are possible. Renville County Jail uses an approach centered on the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) study and Trauma Informed Corrections. Officers are expected to study, learn, and implement these approaches. Inmates are treated as individuals, and disciplinary actions are intended as opportunities to teach rather than applying matrix-style discipline. The position is performed on-site, including during pandemics and adverse weather. The officer may also need to transport inmates safely in adverse weather conditions.
