About The Position

The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a Corrections Community Center Monitor at the Pittsburgh Corrections Community Center (CCC). This role gives you the chance to guide and support female reentrants as they rebuild their lives and prepare for a successful return to their communities. You will help maintain a safe, structured environment where reentrants can focus on positive change and personal growth. Requirements

• Willing and able to work in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania
• Ability to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required
• Able to perform essential job functions
• Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements

Nice To Haves

• Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work (e.g., protection of persons/property, security through enforcement of rules/regulations/laws; correctional setting, juvenile/adult development/detention center, law enforcement, or military security)
• One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals (e.g., lead worker or supervisor assigning/evaluating work, informal counseling, military orders)

Responsibilities

• Observe reentrant behavior, conduct counts, and perform searches for contraband
• Maintain logs, monitor Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems, control movement, and manage sign-in and sign-out registers
• Explain policies, assign rooms and duties, and review available public services with new reentrants
• Verify reentrant destinations and administer breathalyzer and urinalysis tests
• Write observations, issue misconducts, attend hearings, and support reentrants in meeting program goals
• Inspect living and common areas for cleanliness, safety, and readiness, and assist new monitors as needed

Benefits

• Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,999.00 (before taxes).
