About The Position

The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a Community Corrections Center Director 1 who is ready to guide staff, strengthen programs, and advance efficient operations within Region 1 facilities. This position oversees the full operation of 24-hour contracted facilities, ensuring safe practices, strong leadership, and consistent program standards across community corrections.

Requirements

  • Two years as a Corrections Counselor 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Three years as a Corrections Officer 3 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • One year as a Corrections Officer 4 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes three years of professional corrections security, counseling, or casework experience involving criminal offenders in a correctional facility.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • Must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to treatment, security, food service, mid-level managers, and administrative personnel while building positive working relationships
  • Conduct announced and unannounced inspections, monitor security and treatment operations, and ensure compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA), Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA), and DOC standards
  • Develop and enforce rules and expectations for reentrants, promote access to services, and engage community leaders and employers to support reentry opportunities
  • Direct emergency response efforts, serve as Incident Commander, and ensure updated plans and staff readiness for security, medical, and operational events
  • Administer disciplinary hearings, supervise transfers and returns, oversee security equipment, and direct drug interdiction and intelligence efforts
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting, address deficiencies, and help develop and implement policies affecting community corrections
