About The Position

This position supports the safety and stability of the Harrisburg Corrections Community Center by overseeing daily operations and guiding reentrants as they work toward successful community reintegration. The role focuses on maintaining security, providing direction, and ensuring that center activities run smoothly. As a Corrections Community Center Monitor, you will perform the following duties: Safety Oversight: Maintain security within the center, observe reentrant behavior, and monitor movement throughout the facility Behavior Monitoring: Document observations, issue misconducts, and support reentrants in making responsible adjustments Search Procedures: Conduct searches of reentrants, property, and living areas to identify and control contraband Orientation Support: Provide information on center policies, assign rooms and duties, and complete destination checks Visitor Assistance: Provide guidance to visitors, address concerns, and serve as a point-of-contact for law enforcement partners Record Maintenance: Manage logs, inventories, and registers to ensure accurate documentation of daily operations.

Requirements

  • Willing and able to work in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania
  • Ability to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required
  • Able to perform essential job functions
  • Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work. (Examples of qualifying experience include but are not limited to public safety or security work involving protection of persons and/or property and maintaining required security through enforcement of rules, regulations, and laws; public safety or security work in a correctional setting, juvenile, or adult development/detention center, law enforcement entity, or military security experience)
  • One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals. (Examples of qualifying work experience include but are not limited to performing as a lead worker or supervisor assigning and evaluating work tasks, providing informal counseling, or giving orders in the Military)
