About The Position
The Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP) is accepting applications for the position of Canteen Operator. This role involves operating the inmate canteen, managing inventory, processing paperwork, handling special orders, and responding to inmate correspondence. Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- High school education OR experience working in a retail setting
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance
- Must pass a medical exam
- Must pass a drug test
- Must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program
Nice To Haves
- Experience working in a canteen, retail grocery or similar setting
- Experience operating computer and calculator
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish desired and assessed
Responsibilities
- Operates the inmate canteen to include requisition of supplies, maintaining inventory control, processing related paperwork, processing inmate special orders and answering inmate correspondence.
- Assigns and directs the work activities of inmate workers.
- Serve, supervise and train inmate workers in canteen principles, policies and procedures.
- Manage small supply room, receive deliveries.
- Order inmate clothing and control inventory.
