About The Position

This position is located at Caswell Correctional Center with a duty assignment to the medium custody facility. This facility houses and provides services for 484 offenders with a staff size of 155. Work in this class provides first-line supervision for Correctional Officer II's in a medium custody facility.

Requirements

Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
Pass a criminal background check
Produce a negative drug screening result
Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
Possess a valid driver’s license
High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years six months of experience as a Correctional Officer, or two years of experience as Correctional Officer II; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be eligible for certification by the N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training and Standards Commission.

Responsibilities

Supervised all correctional officer activities and performance and ensures that the custody, security, and welfare of offenders is maintained.
Conduct shift line-up assignments to include duty area and post; and inspects all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post.
Complete, review, and maintain time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms.
Account for persons to ensure that all assigned equipment is operationally ready and policies and procedures are followed in accordance to NCDAC.
