About The Position

CBH Medical is directly hiring a Registered Nurse for the medical department at Ocean County Jail. This is a full-time correctional healthcare position offering 12-hour day or night shifts. The nurse assesses and treats patients during admission, confinement, and discharge; coordinates care with the medical and correctional teams; and contributes to nursing leadership, quality assurance, education, and workplace safety. Corrections experience is a plus.

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license in the state where duties are performed.
• BLS/CPR certification.
• Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program.
• Minimum two years of clinical experience.

Nice To Haves

• Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred but not required.
• Corrections experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ physical, psychological, and social needs and provide written assessments upon admission, during confinement, and at discharge.
• Obtain health histories, summarize assessment data, make triage decisions, and document and communicate those decisions to the care team.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment programs using approved protocols as directed by the Medical Director.
• Administer medications using proper techniques, including IV therapy and other approved routes, and obtain diagnostic tests per physician orders.
• Implement ordered nutrition and therapeutic diet plans and refer patients to appropriate providers as needed.
• Document nursing encounters using SOAP charting and communicate with nursing staff, physicians, correctional officers, and department heads.
• Provide leadership to nursing staff, identify problems, and recommend improvements to patient care, procedures, and equipment.
• Participate in quality assurance chart reviews and in-service education, and support OSHA and employee safety programs.
• Practice within the state practice act, the Code of Ethics for Nurses, and CBH Medical policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
