The NC Department of Adult Correction is a large state agency with over 14,000 employees responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons, probation/parole services, and various support divisions. The Correctional Programs Supervisor reports to the Correctional Programs Director I and is responsible for ensuring effective communication with staff, offenders, and the public. This role involves reviewing and analyzing documents and behavioral data, training and supervising subordinate staff, developing and managing correctional programs, instructing offenders on the use of tools and equipment, operating office machines, preparing reports, performing crisis interventions and counseling, working in a prison facility under stressful conditions, accounting for supplies and equipment, conducting surveillance, and monitoring off-site programs which may require driving.
