This class is involved in supervising the activities of trades, mechanical and/or semi-skilled and unskilled workers, scheduling preventive maintenance routine duties, and work of a difficult and complex nature; determining work priorities and providing solutions for unique and complex assignments. Schedules on-going preventative or routine maintenance duties. Assigns, supervises and participates in work involving all phases of painting, carpentry, plumbing, installation, repair and maintenance of systems and equipment, and other related duties. Inspects job site, determines courses of action, directs staff and reviews assignments. Schedules assignments, estimates cost, time and materials. Maintains records and prepares reports. May be required to diagram structural and/or mechanical modifications and heating work. Maintains security; participates in cell, building and grounds searches for contraband, weapons and escapees as required.
