This is the lead level in the series responsible for supervising the daily operation of a vocational trades shop or construction/renovation project. Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. Instructs and oversees inmates in vocational trades in a classroom, workshop and/or in a vocational trades shop or construction site. Instructs inmates in the proper use of power equipment and hand-tools. Instructs and oversees inmates in the cleaning, lubricating and adjustment of equipment and tools. Enforces rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Maintains discipline, order, and security in assigned locations. Prepares various reports and maintains accurate records. Maintains an effective working relationship with inmates by inspiring their confidence and cooperation.
