About The Position

This is a position at Piedmont Correctional Institution located in Salisbury, NC (Rowan County), which is a Medium male prison facility housing 800 inmates. This position reports to a Correctional Captain II. Employee serves as first-line supervisors of Correctional Sergeant II’s. Employees may serve as Officer-in-Charge in absence of the Correctional Captain.

Requirements

• High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years six months of experience as a Correctional Sergeant, or two years of experience as a Correctional Sergeant II; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be eligible for certification by the N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training and Standards Commission.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and provides leadership to subordinate correctional staff.
• Maintains institutional security and safety through enforcement of correctional policies, monitoring of offenders, and staff activities.
• Oversees daily operations management.
• Directs offender management to ensure proper supervision and compliance with institutional procedures and standards.
• Prepares, reviews, and maintains reports, and documentations.
• Responds to emergencies, disturbances, and critical incidents.
• Ensures compliance with departmental policies, and procedures.
