About The Position

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is seeking a Correctional Laundry Coordinator to plan, direct, and coordinate all operations of the institution laundry. This role involves monitoring inmates, inspecting work, assigning tasks, and providing training to inmates on laundry operations and equipment. The coordinator will also oversee preventative maintenance, repairs, supply orders, and maintain safety and sanitation within the laundry facility. Additionally, the position requires preparing and maintaining accurate records of all laundry operations, writing reports, and potentially working in the clothing room or quartermaster office to monitor clothing issuance. The role also includes participation in inmate evaluations and serving on institution committees.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs, and coordinates all operations of institution laundry (e.g., washing, drying and repairing of clothing, towels and linens)
  • Monitors inmates in classifying, washing, drying, folding and checking of laundry
  • Inspects work in progress and in completion
  • Assigns work to inmates and monitors collection and return of laundry to ensure even flow of work.
  • Participates in evaluation of inmates assigned to laundry
  • Provides extensive training to assigned inmates to ensure proper operation and care of laundry equipment
  • Writes inmate job description for laundry operation
  • Oversees preventative maintenance of all machinery
  • Repairs and requisitioning of parts
  • Orders supplies
  • Maintains safety and sanitation within laundry
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records of all operations of laundry to include inmate time reports, supplies used, quantities of clothing laundered, losses and all related functions.
  • Writes reports (e.g., daily work output, inventory, requests for laundry supplies, etc.), works in clothing room or quartermaster office to monitor issuance of clothing to inmates and employees as assigned
