About The Position

The NC Department of Adult Correction is seeking a Correctional Food Service Supervisor II to report to the Correctional Food Service Manager at Warren Correctional Institution, a medium custody male correctional facility. This role involves supervising staff and offenders in large-scale food production, preparation, and service of regular and therapeutic diets. The position utilizes computerized systems for meal preparation and requires accurate record-keeping and employee work appraisals. Responsibilities also include food preparation, serving, storage, menu planning, menu substitutions, and maintaining sanitation standards.

Requirements

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND three years of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, in management of a commercial food service operations, or as a Correctional Officer, OR two years as a Correctional Food Service Officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

Nice To Haves

Documented experience in sanitation, preparing menus, managing inventory, and/or other large-scale food service production activities.
Documented supervision of employees and/or offender workers.

Responsibilities

Providing supervision of Correctional Food Service Officers.
Providing oversight of offenders performing large-scale food production.
Providing supervision of the preparation and service of regular and therapeutic diets for the offender population.
Planning, directing and supervising the daily preparation and serving of food to offenders.
Providing accurate and timely record keeping.
Utilizing computerized food and nutrition systems to prepare and serve daily meals.
Conducting employee work appraisals.
Food preparation, serving, storage, menu planning, menu substitutions, and maintaining sanitation requirements.
