About The Position

Responsible for teaching courses and labs in the Custodial Maintenance Certificate program. This role involves preparing and revising course guides, teaching assigned classes, recommending textbooks, and submitting purchase orders for instructional materials. The instructor will also be responsible for reporting attendance and grades, attending faculty meetings, and serving on college committees. Additionally, the position requires assisting students with their needs, enforcing college regulations, and maintaining a professional demeanor. The instructor must notify administration in advance of absences and maintain inventory and control of flammable and caustics, as well as tools and keys. They will also be responsible for preparing EGGC forms, task lists, and attendance reports, maintaining hourly student counts, and assisting personnel during emergencies. Compliance with Illinois Department of Corrections regulations and procedures, and maintenance of assigned equipment are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Custodial Maintenance Experience Required.
  • Knowledge of Sanitation Procedures.
  • Must be able to perform maintenance and repair of floors, walls, ceilings, doors and windows.
  • Must be able to perform basic plumbing and electrical repairs.
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Good Interpersonal Skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree Preferred.
  • Teaching Experience Desired.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare or revise guides for courses offered in their division in cooperation with other instructors.
  • Teach classes assigned by the Associate Dean and approved by the Vice President following course outlines approved by the College.
  • Prepare textbook recommendations in cooperation with other instructors.
  • Submit purchase order requests for instructional materials, books, required commodities, and supplies.
  • Report attendance and grades as prescribed by the Associate Dean.
  • Attend faculty meetings called by administrative officers.
  • Be on work site for 37.5 hours per week (30 minute lunch).
  • Arrive at work site prior to the beginning of the established shift.
  • Arrive at the classroom prior to the scheduled class time.
  • Serve on committees for the betterment of the College.
  • Assist in registration as needed.
  • Consider the general and special needs of the student.
  • Assist students in meeting needs or solving problems, seeking additional help from other college services when necessary.
  • Observe, support, and enforce the regulations, policies, and programs of the College.
  • Inform the President in writing of any problem that might have a detrimental effect on the College.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner.
  • Notify the appropriate Administrator well in advance of absences.
  • Maintain inventory and control of flammable and caustics.
  • Maintain accurate control of tools and keys on assignment.
  • Prepare EGGC forms, task lists, and attendance reports as required.
  • Maintain hourly count check on students.
  • Assist institutional personnel during emergency situations.
  • Comply with Illinois Department of Corrections regulations and procedures.
  • Maintain equipment assigned to area.
