About The Position

The Corporate Writer and Brand Storyteller is a master storyteller who uses insight, creativity, and compassion to create content that connects with the audience, builds trust, evokes emotion, and inspires action. This role requires the ability to take large, complex topics and distill them down to the core message, with a clear understanding of how to best reach the audience. AMA is a membership organization that helps protect the things that matter most to its members, with operations spanning automotive, registries, travel, and insurance. Requirements

  • University degree or post-secondary diploma in a related field such as journalism, English, or professional writing.
  • Minimum of 7 years of writing and multichannel content development experience.
  • Strong background in writing and editing a range of content, including long form/magazine, video scripts, executive/leadership communications, speech writing, and online content.
  • Experience developing and delivering effective corporate content strategies and managing projects in support of those strategies.
  • Proven expertise in writing and editing brand content.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with an eagle eye for typos.
  • Diplomatic with internal stakeholders.
  • Results-driven and able to work independently as well as in a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AI-powered tools like ChatGPT, Copilot, and similar platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Director, Corporate Communications.
  • Provide support for internal and external programs and campaigns, including the Corporate Responsibility portfolio.
  • Research, write, edit, and create content for employees, stakeholders, and members.
  • Use knowledge of the Canadian Press Style Guide to create and edit content in AMA’s unique brand voice.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver a cohesive content strategy and calendar.
  • Create impactful content for various company-wide communications channels, ranging from speeches and video scripts to web and print.
  • Leverage data and insights to understand how to best reach the audience.
  • Measure and monitor the effectiveness of communications.
  • Work within tight deadlines to deliver compelling, strategic, story-driven content to clients, leaders, and stakeholders.
