About The Position

The Field Communications team is seeking a Corporate Vice President to serve as a strategic communications partner to the Head of Agency and Agency senior leadership. This role is responsible for developing and executing internal executive communications that support business priorities, strengthen leadership engagement, and drive alignment across New York Life’s Career Agency distribution system and home office. The successful candidate will combine exceptional writing and storytelling skills with strong business acumen to translate complex strategies into clear, compelling communications for a variety of audiences. This individual will thrive in a fast-paced environment, exercise sound judgment and discretion, and build trusted relationships with senior leaders while leveraging modern communication and AI-enabled tools to enhance quality, efficiency, and impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in executive communications, corporate communications, or a related communications discipline.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, presentation development, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for executive and field audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting senior executives and developing strategic executive communications across multiple channels.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable communications.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and emerging AI-enabled productivity and communications tools such as Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT.
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships, influence without authority, and exercise sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within financial services, insurance, or another highly regulated industry.
  • Knowledge of New York Life’s Career Agency distribution model or experience supporting communications for a field-based sales organization.
  • Experience developing communications for large-scale leadership meetings, conferences, or enterprise events.
  • Familiarity with digital communications, multimedia storytelling, and emerging technologies that enhance communication effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior Agency leaders to develop and execute executive communication strategies that align with business objectives and organizational priorities.
  • Create high-impact communications, including speeches, presentations, leadership messages, and event content that engage and inform field-facing and internal audiences.
  • Translate complex business initiatives into clear, concise, and compelling messaging agents, advisors, field managers, and home office employees.
  • Develop leadership communication and cascade materials that promote consistent messaging and alignment across the Career Agency organization.
  • Provide strategic communications counsel and executive coaching to senior leaders to enhance messaging effectiveness and executive presence.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Communications, the Agency Chief of Staff, and cross-functional partners to ensure alignment with enterprise messaging, brand standards, and reputational priorities.
  • Support sensitive and time-critical communications, including business continuity and crisis communications, by delivering accurate, timely, and thoughtful messaging.
