About The Position

Michael Foods, Inc. is seeking a passionate and experienced Training Coordinator to join their Corporate Food Safety and Quality (FSQ) team. This role is crucial in fostering a culture of excellence by enabling teams to maintain the highest food safety and quality standards throughout all food manufacturing facilities. The position involves designing, implementing, managing, and evaluating training programs that go beyond mere compliance to enhance knowledge, reinforce desired behaviors, and promote consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement. Utilizing adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies, the Training Coordinator will identify training needs, develop effective learning materials, and lead initiatives that support organizational capability and performance.

Requirements

  • Degree in Instructional Design, Learning Design and Technology, Organizational Development, Organizational Leadership, or a closely related field in Learning and Development or Training.
  • 5+ years of experience in an instructional design related field, preferably in food manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated success in leading enterprise-wide learning initiatives that align with corporate strategy, drive measurable performance improvements, and support organizational transformation.
  • Strong communication and engagement skills, with a proven ability to lead through influence, fostering alignment and driving action across cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
  • Skilled in coaching and mentoring facility-based trainers to elevate training effectiveness and drive sustainable workforce capability development through influential leadership.
  • Project management capabilities, including experience with large-scale rollouts, change management, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to simplify complex regulatory and technical content into scalable, learner-centric training solutions using modern instructional design methodologies.
  • Analytical mindset with experience applying data-driven evaluation models to assess training effectiveness and business impact.
  • Proficiency with a wide range of learning technologies and content development tools (e.g. Alchemy Creator, Synthesia, Adobe Premiere Pro, PowerPoint, CoPilot).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of food safety and quality systems, including regulatory frameworks such as FSMA, GFSI (e.g., SQF, BRC), HACCP, and GMPs, with experience integrating these into training programs.
  • Fluency in multiple languages, such as English and Spanish, is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the assessment of company-wide FSQ training needs in partnership with stakeholders to establish strategic learning priorities.
  • Interpret existing standard operating procedures and observe undocumented processes to create clear, structured training content that drives consistency and effective learning.
  • Design and develop engaging, role-specific training materials that support onboarding and ongoing development for facility and corporate team members, using best practices in instructional design and content creation.
  • Leverage translation tools and verify translations to support multilingual and diverse audiences.
  • Champion the modernization and enhancement of existing training materials to enhance clarity, engagement, and alignment with current practices and expectations.
  • Ensure training meets internal standards and external requirements (i.e. FDA, USDA, SQF).
  • Align training initiatives with succession planning and leadership development to drive long-term talent growth and measurable improvements in employee and organizational capabilities.
  • Stay current on regulatory changes, industry trends, and innovations in learning and development to continuously evolve training strategies and tools.
  • Manage the deployment of training programs related to food safety, quality, and sanitation across all manufacturing facilities, ensuring strategic alignment and consistent execution.
  • Deliver Train-the-Trainer sessions to empower facilitators with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to lead high-impact training and promote a culture of continuous learning.
  • Facilitate engaging classroom, hands-on, and virtual training sessions for both hourly and salaried employees, across all shifts to ensure accessibility for all team members.
  • Oversee LMS activities, including content uploads, learning plan assignments, reporting, and compliance tracking, while guiding facility teams to ensure accessibility and usability.
  • Establish protocols to ensure facilities maintain accurate, audit-ready training records aligned with corporate, regulatory, and customer requirements.
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators to evaluate training effectiveness, identify gaps, and implement targeted improvements.
  • Apply data-driven methods to assess learning outcomes, behavior change, and business impact.
  • Continuously update training materials based on process changes, audit results, and insights from employee performance and behavior.

Benefits

  • The pay range for this position is $80,166 - $118,645 per year.
