About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as our Corporate Nurse Educator supporting multiple Skilled Nursing Facilities throughout Michigan. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing and coordinating clinical education, regulatory training compliance, and employee competency programs in accordance with CMS, Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), OSHA, CDC, and company standards. The Corporate Nurse Educator partners closely with Directors of Nursing (DONs), Assistant Directors of Nursing (ADONs), Administrators, Infection Preventionists, HR, and clinical leadership teams to ensure all nursing staff receive consistent onboarding, competency validation, annual education, and ongoing regulatory training support. This position plays a critical role in supporting survey readiness, clinical compliance, employee development, and quality patient care across the organization.

Requirements

  • Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Michigan.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of nursing leadership experience in Skilled Nursing Facilities or Long-Term Care.
  • Prior experience as a Nurse Educator, Staff Development Coordinator, DON, ADON, or clinical leadership role preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, Michigan LARA requirements, infection control standards, and OSHA requirements.
  • Experience conducting N95 fit testing, TB testing oversight, and employee clinical education programs.
  • Experience with survey preparedness and regulatory compliance in Skilled Nursing Facilities.
  • Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly between facilities.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and Microsoft Office applications.

  • CPR

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Infection Prevention (IP) or Staff Development preferred.
  • Experience supporting multi-site Skilled Nursing operations preferred.
  • Experience developing educational programs and competency tools.
  • CPR Instructor certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate clinical education programs across multiple Skilled Nursing Facilities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain education programs that comply with CMS, LARA, OSHA, CDC, and company policies.
  • Conduct and oversee New Hire Orientation for nursing department employees including RNs, LPNs, CNAs, Unit Managers, ADONs, and DONs.
  • Facilitate annual mandatory education and re-education programs for all nursing staff.
  • Ensure employee competencies are completed timely and accurately, including skills validation and return demonstrations.
  • Maintain standardized training materials, competency checklists, and educational documentation.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to DONs, ADONs, Unit Managers, and floor nurses.
  • Assist facilities with corrective action education plans following surveys, audits, incidents, or identified clinical concerns.
  • Support leadership development and succession planning within nursing departments.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable CMS, Michigan LARA, OSHA, CDC, and federal/state nursing education requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance related to: Bloodborne Pathogens Training, Infection Prevention & Control Education, Hand Hygiene Competencies, PPE Training & Compliance, Respiratory Protection Programs, N95 Fit Testing Programs, TB Testing & Tracking, Abuse & Neglect Prevention Training, Resident Rights Education, Dementia Training Requirements, Emergency Preparedness Education, Safe Patient Handling Training, OSHA-required employee education, Clinical documentation education, Medication administration competency training.
  • Ensure all required employee in-services are completed, documented, and survey ready.
  • Assist facilities with maintaining education files and documentation required during surveys and audits.
  • Participate in mock surveys and support facilities during state surveys and CMS inspections.
  • Collaborate with Infection Preventionists regarding infection control education and outbreak response training.
  • Oversee onboarding and orientation processes for newly hired nursing staff.
  • Ensure all new clinical employees complete required education prior to independent resident care assignments.
  • Conduct skills competency assessments for nursing staff.
  • Coordinate remediation and re-education when performance or compliance gaps are identified.
  • Maintain orientation schedules and annual training calendars.
  • Assist with CNA training support and education initiatives as needed.
  • Travel to facilities regularly to provide onsite education, auditing, mentoring, and compliance support.
  • Partner with facility leadership teams to identify education needs and trends.
  • Assist with implementation of clinical best practices and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide support during surveys, investigations, incidents, and regulatory follow-up plans.
  • Serve as a resource for policy interpretation and clinical procedure education.
  • Support reduction of clinical risk through proactive staff education and competency monitoring.
