About The Position

The Corporate Health and Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving enterprise-wide occupational safety and automation safety programs. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while advancing a proactive culture of safety across all operations. The position will lead initiatives focused on machine safety, robotics/automation risk mitigation, and traditional occupational health and safety, while providing strategic and operational guidance to business leaders. This role includes direct supervision of one safety professional and requires strong cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, HR, and compliance teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or related field required
  • 7+ years of experience in occupational health and safety in an industrial, manufacturing, or automated environment
  • Demonstrated experience with machine/automation safety programs
  • Experience leading safety initiatives at a corporate or multi-site level
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and U.S. safety compliance requirements
  • Expertise in machine guarding, robotics safety, and control system safety
  • Experience with risk assessment methodologies (e.g., JSA, What -if)
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis (Cause Mapping)
  • Ability to translate complex technical requirements into practical solutions
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proven ability to influence without authority across multiple functions
  • Data-driven mindset with experience using metrics to drive decision-making
  • May require physical effort associated with using the computer to access information, or occasional standing, walking, lifting needed to carry out everyday activities

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain corporate safety policies, standards, and procedures aligned with OSHA and applicable regulations.
  • Lead hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies across facilities and operations.
  • Drive incident prevention programs, including behavioral safety initiatives and leading indicator tracking.
  • Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including OSHA and audit readiness.
  • Partner with site leadership to promote a strong safety culture and ensure accountability at all levels.
  • Lead the development and implementation of automation safety programs, including robotics and advanced manufacturing systems.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., ANSI, ISO, NFPA related to machine safety and control systems).
  • Conduct and oversee risk assessments for automated equipment and systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations to design and implement safeguarding solutions.
  • Evaluate new automation projects to ensure safety is embedded in design and deployment phases.
  • Provide technical guidance on Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), control reliability, and safeguarding systems.
  • Establish and maintain KPIs and monthly reports to track safety performance and trends.
  • Manage external audits and inspections, Including the 3rd party Site Safety Surveys.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce risk and improve safety outcomes.
  • Develop training programs for employees, leaders, and technical teams.
  • Benchmark industry best practices and integrates into corporate programs.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop one direct report.
  • Support broader safety teams through coaching and technical expertise.
  • Influence and partner with senior leadership to align safety strategy with business goals.
