About The Position

Floor & Decor is seeking a Corporate Counsel to join its Legal Department. This role will report to the Vice President, Senior Corporate Counsel and will be responsible for managing the company’s data privacy program, advising internal teams on legal requirements and best practices, and reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, with a particular focus on IT-related contracts. The Corporate Counsel will provide legal guidance on applicable privacy laws and regulations, including the CCPA, state privacy laws, and emerging privacy and AI regulations. The role will also review and negotiate various commercial contracts and provide overall support to Floor & Decor in achieving its business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s and Law degrees
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in privacy, corporate and/or retail law in a law firm or in-house legal department
  • Reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts with a focus on technology contracts, including SaaS, cloud, software licensing, and data processing agreements
  • Developing and managing privacy compliance programs, including incident response and data breach management; familiarity with security frameworks
  • Data privacy laws, including the CCPA and state privacy laws
  • Employment-related privacy laws, such as FCRA for background checks and BIPA for biometric data
  • Organization, communication, and client service
  • Strategic acumen and excellent problem-solving
  • Demonstrable ethics, professionalism, and integrity
  • Working independently and anticipating and addressing follow-up needs and escalate issues as appropriate
  • Analytical and negotiating skills, including experience with complex commercial agreements
  • Managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to translate technical privacy and cybersecurity concepts for non-legal stakeholders
  • Working independently and as part of a team
  • High level of professionalism and ethical standards
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with IT, E-Commerce, and business teams

Responsibilities

  • Providing practical, risk-based legal advice on data privacy and emerging technologies across corporate and customer-facing operations
  • Interpreting and operationalizing complex regulatory and contractual requirements, translating them into clear, actionable guidance for business and technical teams
  • Reviewing and negotiating technology and data-related agreements, including SaaS, cloud services, software licensing, data processing agreements
  • Reviewing and negotiating a range of commercial contracts supporting other business functions such as real estate and indirect procurement
  • Leading and managing the company’s privacy program, including maintaining compliance with CCPA, state privacy laws, and other applicable data protection regulations
  • Developing and maintain privacy policies, procedures, and training programs
  • Supporting omni-channel and marketing initiatives in reviewing disclosures, advertising content and promotions for compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Partnering with IT, Information Security, Marketing, E-Commerce, and other business teams to ensure legal and compliance principles are integrated into new products, services, and business initiatives
