About The Position

Operating at the intersection of healthcare and real estate, Wellpointe is a leading provider of affordable, boutique-style residential assisted living services that specializes in offering a coordinated and integrated system of care to high-acuity older adults with multiple chronic illnesses, including Alzheimer’s and other dementia. Wellpointe differentiates itself by providing complex care and medical services coordination in a home-like environment, communicating effectively, and making resident and family satisfaction its top priority. Wellpointe currently operates the Fresno Guest Homes, Cottages at The Colony, Irvine Cottages, and Granny’s Place residential assisted living brands in Fresno, Los Angeles, and the central & south Orange County areas of California.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance; CPA required.
  • Seven to 10+ years of progressive experience in public accounting, private accounting and/or asset management with at least three to five years in a senior accounting or finance role.
  • Experience in senior housing/healthcare real estate and/or healthcare services preferred.
  • Experience in a high-growth, multi-entity environment, including public REIT, a private-equity-backed portfolio company, or other institutionally backed company experience, is a plus.
  • Experience with a professional ERP/Accounting system; Oracle NetSuite experience a plus.
  • Experience with complex and diverse revenue/payor mixes is a plus.
  • A solid understanding of operational, accounting, state and U.S. federal tax, and financial regulatory issues associated with the real estate and/or healthcare industries.
  • Extensive experience in accounting, budgeting, and cost control; analyzing financial data and preparing financial reports, statements, and projections in the U.S. real estate sector.
  • Strong team leadership providing support, direction and mentoring to members of the accounting team and staff.
  • Effective at working cross-functionally across company departments.
  • Effective in engaging stakeholders, both internally as well as partners, third-party firms, and industry leaders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Powerpoint. Proficiency with a Business Intelligence tool (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau, Domo) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations, including general ledger, A/R and A/P, fixed assets, reconciliations, intercompany eliminations, budgeting, costing, accruals and allocations, financial analysis, and tax.
  • Responsible for the oversight and execution of the end-to-end process for monthly/quarterly/annual closing.
  • Direct all financial, project-based, departmental, subsidiary-level, and inter-company accounting.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly/quarterly/annual, and interim financial statements on a consolidated and consolidating basis.
  • Develop a financial reporting package and KPI dashboard for executive leadership; manage external reporting requirements with capital sources; perform covenant and financial ratio testing.
  • Provide support to the CEO during the underwriting process for capital market transactions.
  • Support due diligence and lead financial integration of M&A targets and de novo operations.
  • Develop detailed financial plans and multi-year forecasts, including analyzing, identifying, promoting, and implementing plans to increase company performance, manage and accelerate working capital, conserve and maximize the impact of capital expenditures, and other opportunities to grow equity value.
  • Analyze operating results and clearly explain causes or drivers of significant variances between actual and forecasts.
  • Monitor regulatory changes, industry developments, and trends. Proactively diagnose problems and present solutions and other improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee accounting for any company performance incentive plans, equity co-investments, and joint ventures, as applicable, including corresponding financial statements and waterfall calculations; Manage reporting for internal and outside stakeholders, as applicable.
  • Manage the company’s corporate financial models supporting multi-year forecasting, including cash flow management and scenario planning.
  • Develop, refine, and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure efficient operations; Implement and ensure internal control safeguards in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement systems and software to provide critical financial and operational information in real-time. Evaluate departments and make suggestions for automating processes and increasing working efficiency.
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, providing clear direction, training, and professional development to ensure high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Lead the hiring of new accounting team members; provide strategic advice to the CEO and People Operations regarding ongoing build-out of the department in support of rapid scale-up of the company.
  • Assure the financial integrity of all financial reporting and the accounting group.
  • Lead the annual financial audit and work with external audit firms, and tax preparers.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, support the company’s annual business planning process, and help establish company goals and objectives.
