About The Position

BMO Capital Markets is seeking talented, highly motivated individuals to join their Corporate Banking team as a New Grad Corporate Banking Analyst for 2027. This role offers a comprehensive foundation in corporate banking, starting with a 4-week training program followed by a full-time placement. The Corporate Banking group is a key part of BMO Capital Markets’ Investment and Corporate Banking division, providing a wide range of financial services to corporate, institutional, and government clients. The team is responsible for managing the bank's corporate loan portfolio, supporting credit requirements, and cross-selling various financial products. The program includes defined onboarding training and continuous professional development.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or Master’s degree program with a graduation date of December 2026 or Spring 2027.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.4/4.0.
  • Minimum of two finance and accounting classes with grades “B” or higher.
  • Outstanding academic achievement and peer recognition.
  • Demonstrated leadership in extracurricular activities.
  • Strong financial analysis and modeling skills.
  • Proficient in Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Processing client requests, including new credit facilities and extensions or amendments to existing ones.
  • Completing annual/interim credit reviews, which involve industry and financial analysis (operating performance, cash flow, leverage, coverage, liquidity, capital-at-risk, and regulatory capital calculations).
  • Monitoring the performance of portfolio companies against credit terms and conditions and identifying changes in client financial conditions.
  • Preparing presentation materials and relationship profitability assessments, collaborating with other product and industry groups.
  • Performing industry and company-specific research, and conducting ad hoc projects for senior management.
  • Supporting the origination and structuring of corporate lending transactions.
  • Coordinating with other products as part of a larger coverage team to maintain strong client relationships.
  • Providing lending expertise for various sectors and establishing credit facilities to support trading products.
  • Facilitating credit approvals for Trade Finance products.
  • Cross-selling Corporate Banking products (e.g., FX/treasury products, cash management, commodities, investment management, securitization, leasing, Trade Finance) to clients.
  • Managing the lending portfolio on an ongoing basis.
  • Developing written internal and external marketing pitch material.
  • Supporting deal teams in development, presentation, and winning mandates.
  • Reviewing and assisting in the preparation of credit documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Developing an understanding of client needs and outcomes.
  • Identifying opportunities for increased efficiency and improved service.
  • Providing analytical findings to deal teams.
