About The Position

ThreatLocker is seeking a Corporate Attorney – Intellectual Property & Employment Law to join our growing Legal team in Orlando, Florida. This role will have a balanced focus across intellectual property and employment matters and will work closely with leadership, internal counsel, Human Resources, Product, Engineering, Marketing, and other teams throughout the organization. This is not a narrowly focused legal role. We’re looking for an attorney who enjoys solving practical business problems, can move quickly in a fast-paced technology environment, and is comfortable taking ownership of matters from initial analysis through resolution.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the Florida Bar.
  • 3–5 years of relevant legal experience, with meaningful experience in both intellectual property and employment law.
  • Experience at a law firm, in-house legal department, or a combination of both.
  • Demonstrated experience advising on trademark, copyright, trade secret, licensing, or other intellectual property matters.
  • Familiarity with patent litigation proceedings, including experience supporting pre-litigation and litigation matters.
  • Strong ability to understand and articulate complex technical concepts and translate them into sound IP strategy.
  • Demonstrated experience advising employers on day-to-day employment law and employee relations matters.
  • Strong legal research, drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, practical advice for non-lawyers.
  • Strong judgment and the ability to independently manage sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.
  • A practical, business-oriented approach to legal risk.

  • Registered to practice before the USPTO.
  • Experience working with a technology, SaaS, cybersecurity, or software company.
  • Experience managing domestic and international trademark portfolios.

Responsibilities

  • Advise the company on intellectual property matters involving trademarks, copyrights, patents, trade secrets, software, and other proprietary technology.
  • Draft and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications, particularly in software as a service.
  • Prepare and respond to Office Actions and conduct examiner interviews to advance prosecution strategy.
  • Perform prior art searches, patentability analyses, and freedom-to-operate (FTO) assessments.
  • Draft claim charts and support invalidity and non-infringement analyses.
  • Collaborate directly with engineers, marketing, and internal counsel to protect products.
  • Stay current on developments in software, AI, and emerging technologies impacting IP strategy.
  • Assist with developing, maintaining, and protecting ThreatLocker’s global intellectual property portfolio.
  • Manage trademark clearance, applications, registrations, renewals, enforcement, and related matters in coordination with outside counsel where appropriate.
  • Work closely with Product, Engineering, and leadership to identify potentially protectable inventions, technology, and other intellectual property.
  • Review intellectual property provisions in commercial agreements, technology agreements, licenses, confidentiality agreements, and other contracts.
  • Advise internal teams regarding ownership, licensing, use, and protection of software, content, data, branding, and other intellectual property.
  • Assist with open-source software, third-party licensing, and related intellectual property compliance issues.
  • Monitor and address potential infringement or unauthorized use of ThreatLocker intellectual property.
  • Manage intellectual property disputes and coordinate with outside counsel when necessary.
  • Help develop and maintain internal policies and procedures designed to protect confidential information, trade secrets, and other intellectual property.
  • Advise Human Resources and company leadership on federal, state, and local employment law matters.
  • Provide practical legal guidance regarding hiring, employee relations, performance management, discipline, accommodations, leave, wage and hour issues, and terminations.
  • Review and develop employment agreements, restrictive covenant agreements, confidentiality and intellectual property assignment agreements, policies, handbooks, and other employment-related documents.
  • Assist with internal investigations involving employee complaints, workplace conduct, policy violations, and other sensitive matters.
  • Advise on employee classification, compensation practices, workplace policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Support Human Resources in responding to employee claims, agency charges, demand letters, and other employment-related disputes.
  • Monitor developments in employment law and recommend updates to policies and practices as necessary.
  • Coordinate with outside employment counsel on litigation and specialized matters when appropriate.
  • Provide guidance as ThreatLocker expands its workforce across multiple jurisdictions.
