About The Position

Nelson Mullins is seeking a Mid-Level Corporate Associate with 2–5 years of experience to join its Emerging Companies, Venture Capital and Technology Team in Chicago. The role offers the opportunity to work alongside an experienced team advising emerging companies, entrepreneurs, and investors, handle sophisticated corporate matters, develop client relationships, and grow within a collaborative practice. The team advises companies, founders, management teams, and investors in entrepreneurial ventures and represents emerging and growth-stage companies in corporate and financing matters. Its work addresses legal and business needs at every stage of growth, from formation and early funding through employment, tax, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance matters, as well as mergers and acquisitions transactions through exit.

Requirements

2 to 5 years of meaningful corporate transactional experience in a law firm setting.
Knowledge of corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, securities, and general corporate matters.
Strong writing, analytical, and communication skills.
Strong academic performance.
Admission to and good standing with the Illinois bar.

Emerging company and venture capital experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Advise companies, founders, management teams, and investors in entrepreneurial ventures.
Represent emerging and growth-stage companies in corporate and financing matters.
Support clients’ legal and business needs at all stages of growth, including formation, early funding, employment, tax, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance.
Handle mergers and acquisitions transactions from formation through exit.
Develop meaningful client relationships and contribute to the growth of the practice.
