About The Position

The Corporate Actions Associate is responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of corporate action events across a range of financial instruments. This individual reviews and processes voluntary and mandatory corporate actions, including dividends, mergers, spin-offs, tender offers, rights offerings, income, redemption and call events, class actions, and proxies. The Associate works with internal teams, depositories, custodians, agents, and other external parties to obtain and validate event information, process transactions, reconcile activity, and resolve discrepancies. The role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, risk awareness, and the ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines in a fast-paced operations environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 1-3 years of experience in securities operations, financial services operations, corporate actions, or a related field preferred.
  • Basic understanding of equity and fixed income securities and securities processing preferred.
  • Experience with DTCC, JPM, BNY or similar custody and processing platforms is a plus.
  • Series 99 and Securities Industry Essentials must be obtained within 120 days of start date
  • Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work and meet established deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research and identify discrepancies.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and appropriately escalate exceptions, risks, and complex issues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools.
  • Knowledge of reconciliation or workflow tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review and process corporate action events, including dividends, mergers, spin-offs, tender offers, rights offerings, income and redemption events, class actions, and proxies for domestic and international securities. Ensure transactions are processed accurately and within established deadlines and procedures.
  • Review corporate action announcements received from depositories, custodians, agents, and data providers. Validate event details and assist with the timely and accurate dissemination of information to appropriate internal stakeholders.
  • Perform daily reconciliations between internal records and external sources. Research discrepancies, take appropriate corrective action within established procedures, and escalate unresolved or higher-risk items to senior associates or management.
  • Research and assist in resolving position, entitlement, and cash breaks associated with corporate action events across internal and external systems. Escalate complex or unresolved issues as appropriate.
  • For voluntary corporate action events, monitor deadlines, receive and track client instructions, and accurately process elections in accordance with event terms and established procedures.
