About The Position

The Corporate Accountant is responsible for the accounting for existing manufacturing facilities and the external distribution of products to end customers.  This role reports into the Corporate Finance team and reports directly to the Sr. Manager, Corporate Finance. The role is focused primarily on inventory accounting, with some financial reporting required as needed, as well as assisting with the budgeting and forecasting process for inventory and supply chain activities.

Requirements

  • Completion of a formal post-secondary/college program with a focus in accounting, or other equivalent
  • Up to and including three (3) years of experience in finance with strong understanding of accounting
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills of a detailed technical nature
  • Ability to effectively diagnose and troubleshoot problems that may arise and refer to manager
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel including the use of formulas and pivot tables
  • Must be able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and have strong organizational skills
  • Effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team in order to meet individual and team financial goals
  • Proven ability to quickly learn new applications, processes, and procedures
  • Demonstrates a strong attention to detail
  • Communicates with positive outlook, and proactive attitude minimizing negative behaviors

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with JDE (E1) would be considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Executes financial close process for inventory accounting functions, including preparation of journal entries with documented support, and various balance sheet account reconciliations with accuracy
  • Coordinates receipt of information from across the business to complete financial close, including the receipt of invoices and accruals from various departments
  • Communicates with other employees across the business to understand transactions and ensure appropriately accounted for
  • Prepares various working papers on a monthly and quarterly basis for internal reporting and for the use by external and internal auditors
  • Ensures appropriate documentation is retained and that working papers accurately describe transactions
  • Communicates with external and internal auditors as required to discuss processes and transactions
  • Completes other ad hoc tasks and requests as required to support the overall finance team
