About The Position

Blue Cross of Idaho is looking for a Corporate Accountant. This position is responsible for preparing and recording monthly journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, and maintaining accounting records used to prepare financial statements. Necessary skills include demonstrating the ability to analyze general ledger activity, account balances, and financial information to identify variances, trends, and discrepancies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to apply strong problem‑solving skills, logical reasoning, and professional judgment to investigate issues, determine root causes, and resolve discrepancies. The position also requires being able to effectively research and apply GAAP and Statutory guidance to support accurate financial reporting, ensure compliance with MAR controls, and have the ability to make informed decisions. This position will need to work independently with limited supervision, and to communicate clearly and concisely.

Requirements

  • 3 years of Accounting/Finance experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; or equivalent work experience (two years’ relevant work experience is equivalent to one-year college)
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word skills

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and record monthly journal entries
  • Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliations and analyze variances
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, statutory reports, non-profit and other reports
  • Participate in month and year-end close processes
  • Assist in audit cycles by organizing data, preparing schedules, coordinating deliverables
  • Ensure compliance with MAR controls
  • Apply logical reasoning and professional judgment to resolve discrepancies and support decision‑making
  • Perform research for GAAP and Statutory guidance on various accounting issues
  • Perform other duties as requested
