About The Position

The Corporate Accountant role at PCL Constructors Inc. is a key position within the Edmonton NAHQ. This role involves processing various financial statements and transactions, ensuring accuracy in intercompany billings, reconciliations, and tax processes. The accountant will also liaise with banks and districts to resolve issues, troubleshoot vendor payments, and perform year-end procedures. A strong emphasis is placed on developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships and contributing to a solution-oriented and profitable culture. This position is integral to the financial operations of PCL Constructors Inc., a 100% employee-owned company committed to building opportunities, careers, and communities.

Requirements

  • Postsecondary diploma / degree in a related discipline preferred.
  • 2 years of progressive experience in related field preferred
  • Basic understanding of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles).
  • Understands and comprehends relevant government legislation and PCL policies and procedures
  • Basic knowledge of construction industry; understands general construction terms.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment in a highly matrix organization.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational skills, high level of detail orientation and ability to multitask and prioritize conflicting deadlines.
  • Ability to act with discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Proven critical thinking skills.
  • Basic business acumen and understanding of industry practices and new developments.
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable systems.

Responsibilities

  • Processes corporate credit card statements and employee expense statements.
  • Prepares intercompany billings and payables between all PCL companies.
  • Prepares monthly bank and clearing accounts reconciliations.
  • Completes corporate accounts payables and receivables processes.
  • Liases between districts and banks to resolve bank issues.
  • Troubleshoots vendor payments, intercompany billings and bank queries.
  • Processes monthly sales tax reconciliations and remittances.
  • Performs year-end procedures as assigned.
  • Effectively communicates with internal and external stakeholders, as required.
  • Develops and maintains strong customer focused relationships with key stakeholders and all decision makers.
  • Values, models, and coaches the solution provider and profitability culture.
  • Other duties as required.
