About The Position

The HPM Corporate Accountant is responsible for supporting the full cycle of corporate-level accounting, including financial reporting, general ledger management, and compliance with internal policies and accounting standards. The HPM Corporate Accountant collaborates closely with the VP of HPM Accounting, Property Accounting, AP, and Finance Team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of progressive accounting experience; corporate or property accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience with consolidations and intercompany accounting strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems required; experience with platforms such as Entrata, RealPage, or similar systems is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and corporate accounting principles.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate and timely HPM financial statements and reporting packages.
  • Record and review journal entries, including accruals, intercompany transactions, and allocations.
  • Perform monthly general ledger close processes, including account reconciliations and balance sheet reviews.
  • Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and provide meaningful insights and recommendations to management.
  • Support the preparation of audit schedules and coordinate with external auditors during annual audits.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies across all corporate activities.
  • Maintain and reconcile corporate accounts, including cash, debt, equity, prepaid expenses, and accrued liabilities.
  • Manage intercompany accounting, ensuring transactions are properly recorded.
  • Support equity accounting, including contributions and distributions.
  • Oversee fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals.
  • Assist with corporate cash management, including forecasting and funding requirements.
  • Monitor and reconcile corporate bank accounts and support treasury-related activities.
  • Coordinate funding requests as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with Property Accounting to ensure intercompany billings are accurately recorded, and that Due From/To balances are reviewed and settled in a timely manner.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries, including leadership and auditors.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of accounting operations.
  • Participate in special projects, system implementations, and ad hoc financial analyses as assigned.
