About The Position

Under supervision of the Sports Coordinator, assists in providing excellent service in all aspects of recreational sporting activities and programing located within the Center of Recreational Excellence (C.O.R.E.). This role involves leading and assisting activities for youth and adult programs and events, providing clear instruction, coaching, and officiating for facility programs including sport programs and camps. The specialist will monitor and facilitate a fun, entertaining, safe, and clean environment, organize and set up equipment, and monitor sports facilities ensuring safety and compliance with rules. Key responsibilities include communicating and enforcing program rules and code of conduct, advising participants regarding rule infractions and consequences, and assisting in scheduling activities and facility use. The role also involves keeping records of equipment use, ensuring equipment functionality, greeting participants, administering basic first aid, attending staff meetings and trainings, adhering to work schedules, implementing the CORE mission and philosophy, and immediately reporting suspicious or inappropriate behaviors or abuse. Additional duties may include serving on employee committees.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or high school equivalency (HSE) required with previous participation in organized sports.
  • Applicant must be dependable.
  • Applicant must be available to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere as well as independently and perform assigned duties with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to utilize computer skills.
  • Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships.
  • Must have exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in verbal and written communication.
  • Must be able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to deal with people under stressful and demanding situations.
  • Interest and enthusiasm toward working with youth and adults in a recreational environment.
  • Basic knowledge of supervision skills for youth and adults in a group setting.
  • Ability and willingness to learn additional job duties.
  • Ability to obtain CPR/AED/First Aid for adults and children certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities
