This position requires advanced skills in instrumentation, analysis, or bench work, with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. The ideal candidate will be willing to adopt and communicate new strategies and techniques, and possess strong interpersonal skills. Responsibilities include daily quality control, maintenance, troubleshooting, and general upkeep of analyzers and cell sorters, including performing daily quality control procedures and keeping accurate records of instrument performance. The role involves creating and designing flow cytometry and cell sorting experiments under the guidance of Scientists/Researchers, and providing assisted operation of analyzers and cell sorters through direct professional interactions with facility users. Independent operation in a BSL2 setting, adherence to standard cell sorting biosafety practices, interfacing with vendor service engineers, and assisting in the creation and editing of facility standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training materials are also key aspects. The position includes providing instrument and software training to users with minimal supervision, performing routine laboratory duties such as managing lab supplies, general lab upkeep, reagent preparation, waste disposal, and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment. Ensuring compliance with CoRE Standard Operating Procedures and Mount Sinai Policies, including safety, integrity, and legal policies, is essential. The role also involves contributing to scientific discussions within the CoRE on an ad hoc basis.
