The Neuropathology Brain Bank & Research CoRE is seeking a highly motivated individual to join their team as a Core Research Associate I. This role involves participating in clinical and translational research focused on the neurology and neuropathology of Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. The individual will collaborate with neurologists, neuropathologists, and basic scientists, offering an opportunity to explore the underlying mechanisms of these brain diseases. The position includes on-site duties at both the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and the Regional Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Center at the James J. Peters (Bronx) VA Medical Center. The Neuropathology Brain Bank & Research CoRE focuses on the brain donation process and research support for neurodegenerative diseases such as dementias, movement disorders, and traumatic brain injury. Responsibilities include interacting with potential donors, gathering clinical history, processing brain tissue, performing and analyzing histology, writing autopsy reports, and conducting molecular/genetic analysis. The team also distributes human brain tissue and provides histology services to external researchers.
