About The Position

Under the supervision of the Core Room Supervisor, perform various procedures, using mechanical core making or mixing operations preparing manufactured sand cores for further processing in a safe, efficient, and quality manner. This job includes operation of Redford’s 16, 21, 23, 26, Caufield, Lampe, Pace master, and core machines.

Requirements

Minimum of completion of the tenth (10) grade, high school.
Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
Ability to move freely throughout the department.
Ability to lift fifty pounds on a regular basis.
Ability to stand for a full shift.
Ability to operate powered overhead cranes.
Must be trained in safety requirements of materials and chemicals used in the process, PPE requirements and use, hazard recognition, lockout/tagout, and any other safety requirements for employment at Browntown Foundry.

Responsibilities

Prepares specific machine or work area for daily production of cores per written process directions.
Acquires the specific process card for the job being performed and follows all written directions.
Ensures that all quality and production procedures are followed during core production and records production and delay data on the pace board.
Ensures that correct tooling is used for all jobs by written process cards.
Performs all box changing and machine set procedures following all safety guidelines, including lockout and lifting procedures, ensuring safety and protection of the tooling.
Practices good housekeeping habits and prepares the area for the next shift daily.
Attends daily scrap review meetings and works with other department employees in scrap reduction.
Attends weekly employee meetings.
Notifies the supervisor of any maintenance concerns and tooling problems or concerns.
Reports all accidents to the supervisor immediately.
Additional duties may be required.
